I like how he used aspects from all the old movies we love.
RZA was sayin how him and Quenton would talk about old kung-fu flicks!! Rza would pull out an old movie sayin how rare it was and how he got one on DVD...an Q would pull the master reel out like it was nothin

Re: Kill Bill 1 and 2
Tue, May 18, 2004 - 6:56 PMHey,
I'm a huge fan of old kung fu movies, got a little collection going, I'm SO stoked that quentin tarantino made the kill bills in the same style as all the oldschool ones.... in fact, one scene from vol.2 is from a movie called The Warriors of Kung Fu. In that movie the main character is blind and his master is making him hike this mountain barefoot in the snow with 2 water buckets on his back.... i haven't seen vol.2 yet but i saw uma doing the same scene in a preview ....
i hope kung fu movies make a comeback, theyre so awesome.... -

Thu, June 3, 2004 - 1:01 AMI know what you mean....about the comback...
also, Quentin used a lot of sounds from old Kung Fu movies. In KB1 there's a sound bite from Master of the Guillotine as Oren Ishii is leaving the room during the big fight sequence....

Mon, July 5, 2004 - 11:54 AMDidn't see part on in theatres, waiting for the DVD. When I saw the Shawscope sign of the Shaw Bros. tears came to my eyes.
Absolutely loved the series. Had some great classic artists to help define the performance by Uma. -

Re: Kill Bill 1 and 2
Wed, November 3, 2004 - 12:23 PMI was disappointed...they should have been a little more brutal with the editing and only made one film- that would have made it better. The splitting it up between two features allowed too much time and space waste filled up with meaningless dialogue and did nothing to further the plot. I expected more from QT, but I don't know why...I am stoked he's planning a real kung fu movie done in China, in Chinese. That would be something! -

Wed, November 10, 2004 - 12:03 AMI was kinda disappointed that the fight with Caradine only lasted what...30 seconds? I was hoping it'd be longer for a climatic battle. =\

Quentin Tarantino's strongest points as a film maker are his stylized dialogue and fast paced use of pop-culture references. If the two films had been edited down to a single feature, with the fight scenes intact and the dialogue dropped, it would be barely recognizable as a QT film, and while we might have still recognized it as a revenge plot, very little of the character drama would be left-- the dialogue was needed so that we could understand why the Bride left Bill and why Bill tried to kill the Bride and most importantly: why they had been in love in the first place, et cetera. -

Re: Kill Bill 1 and 2
Sat, September 30, 2006 - 7:33 PMWhat is the POINT of a QT movie without the warped characters and weird dialogue?
When I first saw Part One, I thought it should've been called "Once Upon a Time in the Seventies."
